With the first oppo rally weekend behind us, I’m curious how many miles we all clocked? Our Saturday morning adventure turned in to an all day 300 mile back-road-trip from Nashville to Huntsville and back. The Mazdarari picked up a few accessories from our stops at Jack Daniels, the Space Center, and Burger King

Per Google, something like 169 miles:

Kinja'd!!!

Before anyone gets all “nice” though, I made a few small detours and a wrong turn that sent me through downtown Providence, so it was probably a bit further (also Google doesn’t actually have any idea how to get to Crow Island Airpark)

I’m quite worried I missed a bunch of good stuff along the way, but I was time-limited so it’s not like I could have added more, though perhaps I could have split west and south into two different trips.

We haven’t started yet. The plan is to catch what we can in Baton Rouge and New Orleans this weekend , then use the rally as an excuse to make some side trips on our way through Texas next week.

Not having time constraints, I think, is what made it work well for us. We were just cruising around. Doing lots of quick turn arounds because we saw something that counted and needed to go back.

Haha yes but yesterday was an 80mi round trip, and we have to get out of state for a bunch of stuff so we'll pump those rookie numbers up!

I did grab a few things like that, obviously harder when you are on the interstate or a road of strip malls . But I think without specific targets to reach, I wouldn’t have found much at all, many things are a bit too uncommon to have a chance at just driving around.

So, technically 700 miles plus. But I started as soon as the list was released & I was working out of town. I had to print out my mascot as I left it at home, yesterday I was in Kansas City for work , and collected a few targets on the way home, and now I’m back 120 miles east of home working again, so if I pick up a historical marker or something else that’ll add a few hundred miles.

I live  west of Stlouis. Saturday I probably did less than 100 miles for just the hunt

300 miles for last Saturday for a short day trip.
Maybe another 40-50 for short trips around town.

I tallied it up this weekend—336 miles as of Saturday since I started Oppo Rallying.

A lot of mine are going to be on a bicycle, but we’ll likely have to go a little further to get some of the others.

It paid off having the Mrs riding shotgun to spot things. It’s hard to just happen to see that weird random thing just off to the side of the road for sure

I did not factor in the miles from the start, though I do wish I’d set a trip meter for it now. That said, we haven’t gone that crazy as there is a lot of good stuff around town for me.

Yeah, my teammate bailed on this trip, so I was on my own, and I’m sure it caused me to see less. Though it did lead to some very sudden maneuvers to go quickly park when I did spot things.

Thanks! Not the stone I wanted but due to covid it was all I could find. That made it a little harder but it’s a nice look.

I think we only drove about 25 miles on Sunday morning, but we bagged about 350 points in that drive. I have some longer drives planned but nothing longer than 200 miles.

I’ve only done local stuff, probably drive about 40 and walked another 12. I have a dozen or so more plotted that are hopefully  going to happen on some work trips but I’m so busy right now...!

Well I had to fill up my tank twice on Saturday but mostly because I didnt want to pay more for gas where I was going. Still added up to about 300 miles for the day. And we left around 6am and returned home around 4pm.

0 miles driven this weekend, due to moving into college and leaving my car behind. Many miles walked and I am about to walk some more to get some real good ones.

Technically I’ve Oppo- ed from Maryland to Georgia to Florida. I’ve only been hunting in bursts, but all together I’m over 1000 miles. Going to be adding 300 more with a trip down to Miami this weekend.

Despite the mileage, I’ve captured very little. I never plan to find anything, I just find stuff, and if I’m lucky I’ll be at a stand still so I can definitely not use my phone while driving because that’s dangerous...

Technically I did just over 1300 miles, but we already had our Tail of the Dragon trip planned so we were already going to do that mileage.
